The thirty-thousand-dollar debt was a fabrication.
David had stolen money from Rowan.
But the threatening letter had been used to pressure her into revealing where he might be hiding.
Dominic admitted he'd approved the intimidation.
He believed David had left clues with Rowan.
I stared at him.
“You could have asked me.”
Dominic looked down.
“I know.”
Vincent stood beside me.
“She's right.”
Dominic swallowed.
“I made a mistake.”
I looked at the bruises fading beneath my jaw.
“A mistake is forgetting an appointment.”
My voice shook.
“What happened to me wasn't a mistake.”
