Chapter 13 - A CHOICE NO ONE COULD BUY

I moved into my own apartment.

Vincent helped me find a safe place, but the lease was in my name.

I returned to work.

Rebuilt my savings.

And began therapy to process everything that had happened.

Vincent didn't ask me to stay at his house.

He didn't offer money in exchange for my attention.

He simply called.

Asked about my day.

Remembered small things.

One evening, he brought dinner.

We sat on my small balcony overlooking Brooklyn.

He looked at me.

“Rowan.”

I smiled.

“Vincent.”

He hesitated.

“I think I'm falling in love with you.”

My heart raced.

I looked at him.

Then whispered:

“I think I already have.”

He smiled.

And for the first time, I kissed him because I wanted to.

Not because I was grateful.

May you like

Not because I was afraid.

Because I loved him.
