David contacted me on a Thursday afternoon.
His message was short.

I stared.
Then another arrived.
I'm sorry. I can explain everything.
I called Evelyn.
She told me not to meet him alone.
We arranged for law enforcement to handle the contact.
But before the meeting could happen, David disappeared again.
Then my phone received a photograph.
A warehouse.
A familiar car.
My car.
I stared.
A message followed.
If you want the truth, come alone.
I didn't go.
