Chapter 14 - THE WEDDING WITHOUT A DEBT

One year later, Vincent proposed.
Not at a gala.
Not in front of powerful men.
In the Brooklyn bar where we'd first met.
The bartender smiled when we entered.
Vincent led me to the same table.
I laughed.
“Seriously?”
He smiled.
“Seriously.”
He placed a small box on the table.
Inside was a ring.
Simple.
Elegant.
Beautiful.
Vincent took my hand.
“Rowan Mercer.”
My eyes filled.
“Will you marry me?”
I laughed through tears.
“Yes.”
He smiled.
Then added softly:
“No debts.”
I shook my head.
“No fear.”
He nodded.
May you like
“No fear.”
And when he kissed me, the bartender applauded.
