Chapter 12 - THE LAST DINNER AT MORETTI HOUSE
The final confrontation took place in the same dining room where Alessandro had announced Valyria's pregnancy.
This time, Sarah arrived with Daniel and her legal team.
Alessandro stood at the head of the table.
Aldo sat beside Marco.
Valyria was absent.
The atmosphere was tense.
Daniel placed documents on the table.
“Forensic accounting has identified substantial irregularities.”
Aldo scoffed.
“This is a family matter.”
Sarah looked at him.
“No.”
Her voice was calm.
“It's a financial crime.”
Marco shifted.
Alessandro looked toward his uncle.
“Tell them.”
Aldo stared.
“What?”
Alessandro's expression hardened.
“Tell them what you did.”
Silence.
Then Marco began speaking.
He admitted to participating in the fraudulent transfers.
He described Aldo's instructions.
And explained how Sarah's signature had been forged.
Aldo's face turned gray.
Sarah listened without interrupting.
When Marco finished, she looked around the table.
Eleven years earlier, she'd entered this family believing loyalty meant silence.
