The Moretti Family Trust had been created by Alessandro's grandfather.
It controlled several legitimate properties.
Hotels.
Commercial buildings.
Warehouses.
Investment accounts.
But one provision had been overlooked.
A clause added after Alessandro and Sarah married.
The trust recognized Sarah's independent financial contributions to the family business.
Her inheritance had helped stabilize several properties during a difficult period.
In return, she held a protected beneficial interest in specific assets.
Alessandro had forgotten.
Aldo hadn't.
The fraudulent transfers were designed to strip those assets before Sarah could assert her rights.
Daniel showed her the documents.
Sarah stared.
“So they wanted me gone?”
He nodded.
“Yes.”
She swallowed.
“And Alessandro?”
Daniel hesitated.
“We don't have evidence he knew about the scheme.”
Sarah looked toward the window.
