Chapter 8 - THE LETTER FROM VERMONT

Thomas Bennett sent me a letter.
Not an email.
An actual handwritten letter.
It arrived in a cream envelope.
Inside was a photograph of the cabin.
And a note.
Claire,
I hope the drive home was peaceful.
You seemed like someone who needed a place to breathe.
The cabin is still available.
No pressure.
Sometimes a new beginning waits longer than we expect.
— Thomas
I smiled.
Then placed the photograph on my refrigerator.
Every morning, I looked at it.
The red door.
The snow.
May you like
The trees.
And slowly, I began imagining a life that didn't include Owen.
