Chapter 7 - THE HUSBAND WHO FINALLY SAW THE TRUTH
Alexander went to the restaurant where he'd slapped Evelyn.
He requested the security footage.
The manager hesitated.
“Mr. Moretti—”
“I need to see it.”
The footage showed everything.
Sophia approaching their table.
Evelyn remaining calm.
Sophia leaning closer.
Alexander becoming angry.
Then the slap.
Alexander watched his own hand strike his wife's face.
He watched Evelyn turn away.
He watched the blood appear at the corner of her mouth.
And he watched himself stand there.
Doing nothing.
The manager looked uncomfortable.
“Would you like me to stop the recording?”
Alexander shook his head.
“No.”
He watched Evelyn pick up her purse.
He watched her walk away.
He watched Sophia smile.
Then he closed his eyes.
