Chapter 12 - THE PRICE OF CHOOSING SOPHIA

Alexander wrote Evelyn a letter.

Not a message demanding a reply.

Not an apology filled with excuses.

A letter.

He wrote about the restaurant.

The slap.

The way he'd ignored her warnings.

The way he'd allowed Sophia to remain at the center of their marriage.

He acknowledged that he'd hurt Evelyn.

That he'd frightened her.

And that he had no right to demand forgiveness.

He also wrote about Lily.

He missed her laugh.

Her bedtime stories.

The way she called him Daddy.

But he understood that missing someone didn't erase the harm he'd caused.

He ended the letter with one sentence.

I will respect whatever boundaries you need, even if that means never being your husband again.

Evelyn received the letter two weeks later.

She read it once.

Then placed it in a drawer.

She didn't cry.

She didn't reply.

But she kept it.
