Three months passed.
Alexander began therapy.
He didn't tell Claire.
Didn't use it as proof that he'd changed.
He went because he needed to understand why he'd repeatedly dismissed the woman he loved.
He confronted his habit of confusing control with protection.
He examined the emotional obligations he'd allowed Sophia to impose.
And he admitted something he'd avoided for years.
He had expected Claire to forgive him indefinitely.
Because she always had.
Meanwhile, I continued building my life.
I found a small apartment near Michael's home.
Started doing freelance bookkeeping from home.
And attended every prenatal appointment.
Some nights, I missed Alexander so badly it hurt.
