Chapter 5 - A MOTHER WITH NOWHERE TO HIDE
Claire met her attorney, Rebecca Sloan, in a quiet office.
Evelyn slept in a stroller beside her.
Rebecca reviewed the documents.
“Your husband has significant resources.”
Claire nodded.
“I know.”
“He may seek substantial parenting time.”
Claire swallowed.
“I know.”
Rebecca looked at her.
“Are you prepared for that?”
Claire looked toward her daughter.
Then answered:
“I don't want to keep Evelyn from her father.”
Rebecca nodded.
“Good.”
Claire continued.
“But I need to know he understands that being a father means showing up.”
Rebecca smiled faintly.
“Then we'll focus on creating a safe, stable arrangement.”
Claire exhaled.
For the first time, she realized she didn't need to fight Alexander's power with power of her own.
She needed boundaries.
