Chapter 9 - The Diamond and the Heir

One month later, the grand terrace of the Moretti estate in Alpine, New Jersey, was bathed in brilliant afternoon sunlight.
The dark security checkpoints had been transformed into an ocean of blooming white roses, crystal arrangements, and classical music. Over two hundred guests—international business leaders, distinguished diplomats, and loyal family members—gathered to celebrate.
Matteo stood near the marble fountain, dressed in a custom navy tuxedo, holding Clara’s hand.
On Clara’s left ring finger gleamed a flawless eight-carat emerald-cut diamond ring—an heirloom that had belonged to Matteo’s grandmother, inscribed with the words: Sempre Tu (Always You).
Little Lily, dressed in a white flower-girl dress with a lavender sash, was giggling joyfully, chasing a golden retriever puppy across the manicured green lawn.
“You built a paradise for us, Matteo,” Clara smiled, resting her head gently against his broad shoulder.
“You built it, Clara,” Matteo replied, wrapping his arm around her waist and kissing her forehead. “When Lily knocked on my door that night, she didn't just save your life. She brought my soul back from the dark.”

Marco walked over, carrying a silver tray with two crystal champagne flutes.
“To the House of Moretti,” Marco toasted with a warm, loyal smile. “And to the little princess who rules it.”
