Chapter 10 - A Sunlit Morning on the Amalfi Coast

One year later, the warm Mediterranean breeze swept across the cliffside bluffs of the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy.

The turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea sparkled under an endless golden sky, carrying the crisp scent of lemon groves and salt spray.

Standing on the private sunlit terrace of Villa Moretti was Clara. She was radiant, healthy, and completely unburdened, watching four-year-old Lily paint a watercolor of the ocean on a small easel.

Lily looked up, her cheeks rosy with sunshine, her wide hazel eyes shining with pure, fearless joy.

“Daddy! Look!” Lily cheered as Matteo walked out onto the terrace in comfortable white linen, carrying a plate of fresh pastries and fruit. “I painted our boat!”

“It’s a masterpiece, my brave girl,” Matteo laughed, kneeling beside her and kissing her chubby cheek. He scooped Lily into his arms, lifting her high into the warm Italian air as her laughter echoed over the cliffs.

Matteo walked over to Clara, wrapping his free arm around her shoulders, pulling his wife close against his chest.

The dark basement, the cold fear, and the years of running were gone forever. Standing together above the boundless blue sea, surrounded by absolute protection, immense prosperity, and unconditional love, they knew that no shadow would ever touch their light again.
