Chapter 7 - THE MAN WHO SENT THE FLOWERS

The mysterious woman contacted Sadi two days later.

Her name was Miriam Vale.

She had worked with Leila Rahman.

They'd been friends.

And Miriam had been hiding for almost twenty years.

Sadi met her in a crowded café.

Miriam looked exhausted.

She held Sadi's hands.

“You look so much like your mother.”

Sadi's eyes filled.

“Why did you send the flowers?”

Miriam smiled sadly.

“Your mother loved carnations.”

Sadi swallowed.

“And the message?”

Miriam looked around.

Then whispered, “I needed to know whether you remembered the night she died.”

Sadi froze.

“I was twenty-one.”

Miriam nodded.

“Then you remember the man who came to your apartment.”

Sadi's blood ran cold.

A memory surfaced.

A dark coat.

A silver ring.

A voice telling her mother to stop asking questions.

Sadi whispered, “Yes.”

Miriam's eyes filled.

“That man works for Roman Costa.”
