Chapter 5 - THE SECRET BENEATH THE COSTA MANSION
Roman stared at the photograph.
His expression changed.
Sadi noticed immediately.
“You know her.”
He didn't answer.
She stepped closer.
“Roman.”
He looked at her.
For the first time, she used his name without permission.
“Did you know my mother?”
Roman swallowed.
“Yes.”
Sadi's heart pounded.
“How?”
He looked toward the window.
“She worked for my father.”
Silence.
Sadi stared.
“My mother was an accountant.”
Roman nodded.
“She handled financial records.”
Sadi looked down at the photograph.
“Why didn't you tell me?”
Roman's jaw tightened.
“Because I didn't know you were her daughter.”
She stared.
“How is that possible?”
He looked at her.
“Your surname was changed in our employment records.”
Sadi went still.
“What?”
Roman continued.
“Your application listed Sadi Rahman. But the original background report had another name.”
Sadi's hands shook.
“What name?”
Roman hesitated.
Then whispered, “Sadi Malik.”
Her mother's maiden name.
Sadi stared.
“Who changed it?”
