Chapter 10 - THE NIGHT THE GATES WERE OPENED
Roman gave Sadi the truth.
Not a softened version.
Not an excuse.
The truth.
He met her in the greenhouse.
She stood beside a row of white orchids.
He approached slowly.
“Sadi.”
She turned.
He held out a folder.
“Everything I found.”
She stared.
“About my mother?”
He nodded.
“Yes.”
She took it.
Read the documents.
Her hands began shaking.
Roman waited.
When she finished, she looked up.
“Your father killed her.”
Roman swallowed.
“Yes.”
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
“And you didn't know?”
“No.”
She stared at him.
Then whispered, “I don't know if I can ever forgive your family.”
Roman nodded.
“You don't have to.”
She looked away.
He continued.
“I've given copies to an independent attorney and investigators.”
Sadi stared.
“You're exposing your own father?”
Roman's voice hardened.
“He's dead. But the people who helped him aren't.”
She swallowed.
“And what about you?”
Roman looked at her.
“I'll answer for anything I've done.”
Sadi began crying.
Roman didn't touch her.
