Chapter 6 - THE NIGHT ROMAN LOST HER TRUST
Roman ordered an internal investigation.
He reviewed employment records.
Security footage.
Old financial documents.
And personnel files dating back twenty years.
Sadi waited.
At first, she believed he was helping.
Then she discovered something.
Roman had instructed his security team to monitor her phone.
Her calls.
Her messages.
Her movements.
She confronted him in his office.
“Did you have someone watch me?”
Roman looked up.
“Sadi—”
“Answer me.”
He sighed.
“Yes.”
Her heart broke.
“Why?”
“Because someone may be targeting you.”
“You could have told me.”
“I didn't want to frighten you.”
She laughed bitterly.
“So you decided to control me instead?”
Roman stood.
“That's not what I meant.”
Sadi stepped back.
“You destroyed my flowers.”
He looked away.
“You interrogated Toby.”
“Sadi—”
“And now you're watching me like I'm a prisoner.”
Roman's expression changed.
She swallowed.
“I thought you were different.”
Then she turned.
And walked out.
Roman didn't stop her.
