Chapter 2 - The Miracle in Operating Room Three

The sirens of three emergency trauma units wailed through the streets of Norristown as the ambulance raced toward the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Inside the resuscitation bay, Harrison stood with his hands covered in his sister’s blood, watching the trauma team swarm around the gurney.
"Placental abruption with severe pelvic blunt-force trauma!" Chief Surgeon Dr. Robert Bennett announced over the blaring cardiac monitors. "Prep Operating Room Three for an emergency emergency cesarean section and exploratory laparotomy right now!"
Harrison caught Dr. Bennett’s arm. His voice was low, steady, and vibrated with the weight of an empire.
"Save them both, Robert," Harrison whispered. "I don't care if you have to call every surgical chair from Baltimore to Boston. Keep my sister and her child alive."
"We will give them everything we have, Harrison," Dr. Bennett promised before the double surgical doors slammed shut.
For four agonizing hours, Harrison stood in the sterile white hallway, refusing to sit, refusing a change of clothes. The blood on his sleeves had dried into dark, stiff rust.
At 2:15 PM, the scrub doors swung open.
Dr. Bennett stepped out, pulling down his surgical mask, exhausted but smiling.
"Harrison," Dr. Bennett breathed. "It's a miracle. We stabilized the uterine arterial bleeding. Khloe has a fractured left clavicle and severe contusions, but she is conscious."
Harrison’s breath caught in his throat. "And the baby?"
"A daughter. Five pounds, four ounces. Her APGAR scores stabilized in the neonatal ICU. She is breathing on her own."
Harrison closed his eyes, drawing a long, shuddering breath as thirty years of stoicism cracked into silent tears of pure, overwhelming gratitude.
He wiped his face, turned to his Chief of Private Security, Marcus Stone, and straightened his cuffs.
"Marcus," Harrison spoke, his voice returning to its razor-sharp, lethal cadence.

"Yes, Mr. Cole?"
"Call the District Attorney. Tell him Harrison Cole is personally taking over the prosecution."
