Chapter 7 - The Traitor's ConfessionInside the windowless federal interrogation suite at the Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles, Nathan Cross sat shackled to a steel table.

Special Agent Miller of the FBI tossed a thick file folder onto the metal surface, accompanied by the digital voice recording extracted from the dollhouse.

"You're looking at Conspiracy to Commit Premeditated Murder, Attempted Capital Murder, and Interstate Wire Fraud, Nathan," Agent Miller said bluntly. "In the state of California, that carries a minimum sentence of life without parole at Pelican Bay."

Nathan’s jaw twitched. "What are my options?"

"Full, unreserved cooperation," Miller replied. "We want every financial ledger, every offshore crypto wallet, and every detail of Vanessa’s network."

Nathan didn't hesitate for three seconds.

For the next four hours, Nathan laid bare the entire five-year conspiracy:

How Vanessa had forged power-of-attorney documents to liquidate $18 million in restricted biotech research grants.

How she had paid off a corrupt coroner's investigator to falsify the original Highway 1 accident report, declaring Claire Vance legally dead without DNA confirmation from the sea.

How Vanessa had planned to poison both infant Lucas and young Mia over a twelve-month period, framing Adrian’s 'declining mental stability' so she could take sole guardianship of the entire Whitmore fortune.

"She was never going to stop," Nathan confessed, his hands trembling against the steel table. "She told me that as long as Claire’s bloodline existed, her claim to the estate was vulnerable. She is a monster."

In the adjacent observation room behind the one-way glass, Elena and Adrian listened through the intercom headphones.

Adrian gripped the edge of the counter until his knuckles turned pure white, his face pale with righteous fury.

Elena placed a steady hand on his forearm. "It’s over, Adrian. She will never touch our family again."
