Chapter 9 - THE MAN WHO ORDERED THE ACCIDENT
The evidence came from an unexpected source.
A former mechanic named Daniel Reed contacted Leo.
He claimed Victor had ordered him to alter the vehicle before Liam's trip.
Daniel had refused.
But another employee carried out the work.
Daniel had kept copies of the messages because he feared being blamed if someone died.
Leo brought the information to Liam.
Clara stood near the window.
Liam read the messages.
His expression went cold.
“Victor.”
Leo nodded.
“It's him.”
Liam stared at the evidence.
Then looked toward the photograph of Noah.
For fifteen years, Victor had been his closest friend.
His adviser.
His brother in everything but blood.
And now Liam understood.
Victor had taken Noah.
Victor had arranged the crash.
Victor had tried to kill Clara.
Liam closed his eyes.
Then whispered, “I'm done.”
Leo frowned.
“With Victor?”
Liam shook his head.
“With all of it.”
He looked at Clara.
“The business. The violence. The secrets.”
His voice broke.
“I don't want to die in this house.”
May you like
Clara's eyes filled.
“Then don't.”
