Chapter 7 - THE PHOTOGRAPH IN THE LOCKED SAFE

Marco's investigation led to an old bank safe-deposit box.
Inside were financial records.
A photograph.
And a handwritten letter.
The photograph showed Daniel Mercer standing beside Edmund Ashford.
Between them was another man.
Nico stared at the picture.
His expression changed.
I looked at him.
“Who is that?”
He swallowed.
“My uncle.”
I frowned.
“Your uncle?”
Nico nodded.
“Salvatore Ferrara.”
Salvatore had died eight years earlier.
At least, that was what Nico believed.
But the photograph was dated only six months before Marco's attack.
Nico stared at the date.
Then whispered, “That's impossible.”
I looked at him.
“Why?”
May you like
His jaw tightened.
“Because my uncle was buried eight years ago.”
