Chapter 4 - THE WIFE WHO WOULDN'T WAKE UP
Claire remained unconscious through the night.
Doctors continued monitoring her recovery after the emergency surgery and hemorrhage.
Vincent sat outside her room.
He didn't eat.
Didn't sleep.
Didn't answer business calls.
His second-in-command, Marco Bellini, arrived shortly after dawn.
“Boss.”
Vincent looked up.
“Handle everything.”
Marco hesitated.
“The meeting with the families—”
“Cancel it.”
“The shipments—”
“Delegate them.”
Marco studied him.
“Vincent.”
He looked up.
“What?”
Marco's expression softened.
“Your wife needs you.”
Vincent closed his eyes.
“I know.”
Marco waited.
Then said something Vincent would remember for years.
“She needed you before tonight.”
Vincent stared.
Marco didn't apologize.
