Chapter 12 - THE WOMAN IN THE WRONG COFFIN

The unidentified woman buried as Elisa was eventually identified.
Her name was Rachel Monroe.
She was twenty-nine.
A nurse.
She had worked at the private clinic involved in the conspiracy.
Investigators believed she discovered the plan to conceal Elisa and Lucia.
She attempted to report it.
Then disappeared.
Her body was used to support the false account of Elisa's death.
Rachel had a family.
A mother.
A younger sister.
People who had spent eight months searching for her.
Dante arranged to meet them through their attorney.
He did not try to buy their silence.
He did not offer excuses.
He listened.
Rachel's mother cried.
“She was a good girl.”
Dante nodded.
“I believe you.”
“She wanted to help people.”
His voice broke.
“She did.”
Dante supported efforts to ensure Rachel received a proper burial and that her family had access to the truth.
But he understood that money could not undo their loss.
