Chapter 6 - THE BROTHER WHO SOLD HIS BLOOD

Ethan Hayes had spent his entire life standing in Declan's shadow.

Declan inherited the family business.

Declan made the decisions.

Declan commanded loyalty.

Ethan received money.

Titles.

And the illusion of importance.

But he wanted more.

He wanted control.

So he began secretly selling information about the Hayes organization's operations to a rival syndicate.

Routes.

Schedules.

Financial records.

Security arrangements.

When Declan discovered irregularities, Ethan panicked.

He arranged the warehouse ambush.

But Declan survived.

Now Ethan needed to finish what he'd started.

And the nurse standing between him and his brother was becoming a problem.

Inside the bedroom, Mave remained crouched beside Declan.

Ethan knocked again.

“Declan, open the door.”

Declan said nothing.

Mave looked at him.

“Do you trust him?”

Declan's face was pale.

Then he whispered, “I used to.”

Mave swallowed.

Outside, footsteps moved away.

A moment later, Tommy's voice sounded.

“Boss?”

Declan exhaled.

“Tommy.”

“Security's restoring the system.”

Mave looked at the door.

“Is Ethan gone?”

Tommy hesitated.

“Yes.”

Declan closed his eyes.

Then whispered, “It's him.”

Mave stared.

“Your brother?”

May you like

Declan nodded.

“He's trying to kill me.”
