Chapter 6 - The Boardroom Shockwave

At 8:45 AM on Tuesday morning, the 54th-floor grand boardroom of the Sterling Global Tower in Midtown Manhattan was an arena of absolute power.
Panoramic windows showcased the breathtaking skyline of New York. Twenty senior institutional directors, corporate titans, and federal financial regulators sat around the fifty-foot polished marble table.
Richard Vance walked into the room, puffing his chest out, accompanied by his mother Olivia and Vanessa, who was clinging to his arm like a trophy.
"Good morning, gentlemen!" Richard boomed with theatrical confidence, taking a seat at the guest petitioner’s end of the table. "I trust the documentation for Vance Logistics’ $12 million credit facility is ready for execution?"
The board members looked at him in dead, icy silence. Not a single person smiled.
"Mr. Vance," Lead Director Harrison spoke in a grave, measured tone. "Before we discuss any loan disbursement, we must await the formal arrival of our Executive Chairwoman and Majority Trustee."
Richard chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "Of course, of course. I always enjoy meeting powerful women. Let's hope she appreciates dynamic leadership."
The heavy double mahogany doors at the head of the boardroom swung open.
Four executive security officers stepped in, standing at rigid attention.
Then walked in Julian Sterling, flanking the woman whose entrance caused the entire room to rise to their feet in a unified, respectful standing ovation.
She wore an immaculate ivory wool blazer, tailored silk trousers, and diamond-studded sapphire earrings. Her posture was regal, commanding, and radiating untouchable authority.
Richard Vance’s smile vanished.
His jaw dropped so hard his cigar slipped from his fingers, rolling across the pristine carpet.
"M... Maya...?" Richard stammered, his voice cracking into a high, pathetic squeak. "What... what are you doing here?! Security! Get this crazy waitress out of the executive suite!"
May you like
Julian Sterling stepped forward, his eyes burning with lethal contempt.
"Silence, Mr. Vance," Julian’s voice boomed across the boardroom like thunder. "You are addressing Lady Maya Sterling-Vance, sole heiress to the Sterling Dynasty and Executive Chairwoman of Sterling Global Capital."
