Chapter 10 - A Birthday in the Sunlight

One year after the trial, the warm summer sun cast long, shimmering rays of gold across the expansive green lawns of the Sterling Estate in Newport, Rhode Island.
The ocean breeze carried the sweet scent of blooming white hydrangeas, roasted coastal lobster, and the joyful laughter of dozens of children.
In the center of the manicured garden stood a magnificent, three-tier birthday cake decorated with hand-painted sugar orchids and five glowing golden candles.
Five-year-old Lily, dressed in a beautiful floral lace sundress, was running across the grass with her classmates from her new private academy, her laughter ringing pure and untainted under the clear blue sky.
Around the grand terrace tables sat true friends, loyal colleagues, and family members who valued honor, kindness, and integrity above all else.
Maya stood by the stone balustrade wearing a comfortable linen dress, holding a glass of sparkling peach cider, watching her daughter blow giant soap bubbles into the summer air.
Julian Sterling walked over, smiling warmly as he handed her a small plate of artisan fruit tarts.
"Happy fifth birthday to our little princess, Chairwoman," Julian smiled.
"She’s happy, Julian," Maya replied softly, her heart overflowing with profound, unshakeable peace. "She’s finally safe."
"Mommy! Mommy, look!" Lily called out, running up the stone steps and throwing her chubby arms around Maya’s legs. "Julian helped me pick out the biggest piece of cake, and it has extra strawberries!"
Maya knelt down on the flagstones, pulling her beautiful, brave daughter into a warm, fierce embrace. She kissed Lily’s soft cheek, feeling the gentle ocean breeze rustle their hair.
"Make a wish, my love," Maya whispered.

Lily closed her eyes, smiled with all her heart, and blew out her birthday candles as the entire garden erupted in cheerful applause and joyful songs.
The cold suburban backyard, the pink frosting of cruelty, and the bitter shadows of betrayal were gone forever. Standing tall in the golden sunlight, surrounded by honor, prosperity, and unconditional love, Maya and Lily were finally whole—and their kingdom would shine brightly for all the years to come.
