Chapter 9 - THE BETRAYAL BEHIND THE BAR

Nolan Prescott had not been a bartender by accident.

He was an operative.

A man who specialized in gaining trust.

He learned routines.

Collected information.

And waited.

For nine years, he'd worked inside Cormack Brennan's private club.

He knew which guests came and went.

Which drinks they ordered.

Which guards were loyal.

And which employees could be manipulated.

Three years ago, he helped arrange the Harborpoint warehouse explosion.

Daniel Varela had discovered the operation.

Nolan was ordered to silence him.

But Dela survived.

Nolan believed she had evidence.

So he tracked her.

Watched her.

And eventually hired her at the club.

He kept her close.

Humiliated her.

Made sure she remained invisible.

Because invisible people were easy to control.

Then the order came.

Kill Cormack Brennan.

And Nolan chose the whiskey.

He never expected Dela to recognize the poison.

But she did.

And in one second, the woman he'd spent three years trying to erase destroyed his plan.
