Chapter 6 - The Eviction of Richard Vance

Panic erupted through the house.

Movers in uniform marched through the front doors, immediately boxing up furniture, televisions, and artwork, carrying them out to the driveway.

"You can't do this!" Vanessa screamed as a deputy escorted her off the designer rug onto the lawn in her slippers. "I am a social media influencer! I have brand deals! I’m recording this!"

"Record all you like, Miss Adams," Julian smiled with cold amusement. "Your sponsor contracts with Luxe Beauty Brands were terminated fifteen minutes ago when Sterling Consumer Group—which owns eighty percent of your parent sponsor—exercised the public morality morals clause."

Vanessa’s face turned an ashen shade of gray as her phone buzzed with termination notices from her agency.

Richard lunged toward Julian, his fists clenched. "Who authorized this?! Who has the power to call in a $14 million debt overnight?!"

The rear door of the lead Maybach clicked open.

A uniformed chauffeur lowered the step.

Stepping out onto the asphalt with breathtaking, regal elegance was Maya.

She wore a tailored ivory silk blazer over emerald trousers, her chestnut hair styled in soft waves, and around her neck gleamed a flawless thirty-carat diamond necklace bearing the Sterling crest. On her finger, the silver orchid ring caught the morning sun.

Richard froze. His jaw dropped so low he looked disfigured. "M-Maya...?"

Olivia stumbled backward against a moving crate, clutching her chest. "The... the waitress?!"

May you like

Maya walked slowly across the gravel driveway, her high heels clicking with rhythmic authority. She stopped three feet from Richard, looking down at his disheveled, terrified face with cool detachment.

"You told me I wouldn't last a week without you, Richard," Maya said, her voice carrying clear across the entire neighborhood. "You were right. It only took me twelve hours to take back my family's city."
