Chapter 14 - THE HOUSE WITHOUT LOCKED DOORS

Alina moved into a small house outside the city.

Not because Dorian demanded it.

Because she wanted a garden.

A nursery.

And a place where their children could grow up without guards standing in every hallway.

Dorian helped her choose it.

The house had white siding.

Blue shutters.

A wide porch.

And a kitchen filled with afternoon sunlight.

Alina stood in the doorway.

“What do you think?”

Dorian looked around.

“It's small.”

She raised an eyebrow.

He smiled.

“Perfectly small.”

She laughed.

He stepped closer.

“Can I ask you something?”

She nodded.

“Would you let me live here?”

Alina stared.

Dorian swallowed.

“Not because we're still legally married.”

He looked down.

“But because I'd like to be your partner again.”

Tears filled her eyes.

She studied him.

Then smiled.

“On one condition.”

“Anything.”

“No secrets.”

Dorian nodded.

“No secrets.”

She took his hand.

“Then welcome home.”
