Chapter 11 - THE WIFE WHO REFUSED TO BE A PRISONER

Alina returned to her apartment across the city.

Dorian didn't like it.

But he respected her decision.

She wanted her own space.

Her own work.

Her own choices.

And she refused to let fear decide the rest of her pregnancy.

One evening, Dorian visited.

He brought groceries.

Not diamonds.

Not flowers.

Groceries.

Alina opened the door.

She stared at the bags.

“What is that?”

He looked down.

“Food.”

“I can see that.”

He hesitated.

“I wasn't sure what you'd want.”

She smiled faintly.

“So you bought everything?”

“Possibly.”

Alina laughed.

It surprised them both.

Dorian stepped inside.

They cooked dinner together.

Badly.

He burned the garlic.

She overcooked the pasta.

They ate anyway.

Later, they sat on the couch.

Dorian looked at her.

“Alina.”

She turned.

“Yes?”

“I know the pregnancy doesn't change what happened between us.”

Her expression softened.

He continued.

“I know I hurt you.”

Tears filled her eyes.

“And I know you don't owe me another chance.”

She looked down.

Dorian took a breath.

“But I want to become the man you deserved from the beginning.”

Alina studied him.

Then whispered:

“Then start by telling me the truth.”

May you like

He nodded.

“Every time.”
