Chapter 8 - THE BETRAYAL INSIDE MORETTI SHIPPING

Vincent ordered an independent audit of Moretti Maritime Services.
The findings were troubling.
Several contracts had been approved through a subsidiary without proper oversight.
Payments had been routed through companies connected to Grant Mercer and Richard Sloane.
Vincent's chief financial officer, Daniel Russo, appeared repeatedly in the records.
Vincent stared at the report.
“How long?”
His attorney looked uncomfortable.
“Nearly eighteen months.”
Vincent closed his eyes.
He had trusted Daniel for ten years.
Now he discovered that Daniel had been using the company to conceal fraudulent transactions.
Vincent leaned back.
“Turn everything over to the investigators.”
His attorney nodded.
“And Daniel?”
Vincent looked toward the window.
“Let the law handle him.”
He had spent years believing loyalty meant protecting his people.
