Chapter 5 - The Cut Brake Line

While the city prepared for the billionaire’s memorial, Marcus Stone and an independent team of certified forensic mechanics completed the physical examination of the recovered vehicle components.
At 2:00 PM on Wednesday, Marcus presented the metallurgical evidence report in the safehouse conference room.
On the glass table lay the severed hydraulic brake lines recovered from the wreckage, magnified beneath high-powered digital microscopes.
“The braided stainless-steel casing was scored with a diamond-tipped micro-saw at a seventy-degree angle,” Marcus explained, pointing to the high-resolution imaging. “Under normal city braking, the hydraulic pressure remained below the threshold. But the moment the car initiated continuous downhill braking on the mountain incline, the pressure exceeded three thousand PSI, completely severing the line in less than four seconds.”
“And who had access to Dante’s private garage at the penthouse?” Agent Vance asked.
Marcus pulled up the building’s subterranean security logs.
“At 6:15 PM on the evening of the crash, Julian Sterling’s private driver entered the garage carrying a specialized tool kit, logged under the pretense of delivering executive documents to Dante’s vehicle.”
“We also intercepted Julian’s encrypted satellite communications from yesterday afternoon,” Agent Vance added, sliding a decrypted transcript across the table.
Julian: ‘The coroner has completed the dental record identification on the secondary remains found near the vehicle. The public memorial is authorized for Friday at 10:00 AM.’
Vanessa: ‘Ensure the board voting proxy is signed immediately following the service. The charter flights to Switzerland are booked for Saturday morning.’

Dante looked at the transcript, a cold, predatory smile spreading across his sharp features.
“They are so confident in their grave,” Dante whispered. “Let’s give them a funeral they will never forget.”
