Chapter 5 - The Boardroom Eviction Order

By 5:00 PM, the Richardson Sovereign had been towed under Coast Guard escort into the commercial dry dock of Sovereign Marine Terminals in Boston Harbor.
Inside the glass-walled executive conference room on the 48th floor of the Sovereign Trust Tower overlooking the bay, the true scale of the Richardson family's deception was laid out across forty linear feet of mahogany tables.
Arthur Vance sat beside me, accompanied by five senior forensic accountants and Chief Risk Officer Elena Cruz.
I had changed into a tailored charcoal silk blazer and ivory trousers, my hair tied in an elegant, severe knot. On the table before me sat a cup of black coffee from Rowan Street—the shop I had personally founded six years ago as a community revitalization project.
“Here is the complete forensic audit, Madam President,” Elena Cruz reported, clicking the presentation remote.
The high-definition screens illuminated the room with the anatomy of a financial empire built on sand:
The Embezzled Credit Lines: Over $14.8 million in fraudulent draws against Sovereign Trust commercial mortgages, used to purchase luxury European vehicles, private school tuitions, and country club memberships.
The Stolen Investment Fund: Julian Richardson had utilized an unauthorized secondary signatory key on our municipal business development fund to divert $420,000 into high-stakes sports gambling and private VIP club tabs in Miami.
The Secret Pre-Nuptial Syndicate: Files recovered from Charles’s private computer showing that the Richardson family had planned to push Julian into marrying me, having mistakenly believed I was merely a middle-management trustee, intending to use spousal equity claims to hijack our banking charter.
Arthur Vance shook his head with grim satisfaction. “They believed they were playing chess against a barista. In reality, they were trying to rob the central bank.”
“What is the status of their personal properties?” I asked.
“The Beacon Hill brownstone, the Martha’s Vineyard summer compound, and their four luxury vehicles are all pledged as cross-collateral under the defaulted loans,” Arthur answered. “Sheriff’s deputies are currently serving the physical eviction notices at the residence.”
I looked out across the harbor as the sun began to sink below the skyline, casting long, golden reflections over the water.

“Let them pack one suitcase each,” I instructed softly. “The rest belongs to the receivership trust.”
