Two years after leaving Callum, Ara's business was thriving.
She had hired four employees.
Opened a small office.
And become known for designing events that felt personal rather than extravagant.
Rosehaven had been restored.
The blue front door gleamed.
The garden bloomed.
And Lucien had learned to cook.
Badly.
One evening, Ara found him standing over a pan.
Smoke curled toward the ceiling.
She stared.
“Lucien.”
He turned.
“Yes?”
“Is that supposed to be dinner?”
He looked offended.
“Technically.”
Ara burst out laughing.
He sighed.
“I was trying to surprise you.”
She wrapped her arms around him.
“You succeeded.”
He smiled.
