Chapter 6 - The Hidden GPS Tracker in the Mud

================================================================================

Craig stammered, stepping back toward the elevator doors. “Mr. Vance... that van was in the fleet garage for maintenance all evening. I have the log sheets—”

“Do not lie to me in my home, Craig,” Alexander said, his voice dropping into a register of quiet, terrifying authority.

Alexander tapped the screen of his tablet. The fifty-inch wall monitor in the dining room illuminated instantly.

Displayed on the screen was a detailed satellite map of Central Park, overlaid with synchronized telemetry data:

The Encrypted Beacon: Embedded inside Ethan’s winter boots was a microscopic GPS locator designed by Vance Aerospace Defense. The beacon recorded Ethan being dropped at the 72nd Street gate at 7:52 PM.

The Dashcam Recovery: Forensic investigators had seized the grey van from a private parking lot in Queens two hours earlier, recovering erased dashcam files showing Craig and an accomplice deliberately ushering Ethan toward the ravine before driving away.

The Bank Wire Logs: Certified wire records showing a $250,000 transfer routed from Victoria Vance’s private offshore account in the Cayman Islands directly to Craig’s personal credit line thirty minutes before Ethan was abandoned.

Victoria’s hands began to shake violently. Her aristocratic facade shattered into panicked hysterics.

“Alexander! Listen to me!” Victoria shrieked, lunging toward him. “You don't understand the pressure I was under! The board was going to audit the foundation’s books! If Ethan inherited the fifty-million-dollar trust on his eighth birthday next month, his executors would have discovered the missing funds!”

“So you decided to leave a seven-year-old child to freeze to death in a ditch?” Alexander asked, his voice dead, quiet, and chillingly calm.

Victoria pointed a shaking, manicured finger at me. “You’re taking the word of a homeless gutter rat over your own bloodline?!”

Alexander stepped between Victoria and me, towering over his cousin like an immovable mountain.

“Lily showed more honor, more courage, and more humanity in ten minutes than you have shown in your entire parasitic life,” Alexander declared.

The elevator doors opened with a sharp, pneumatic hiss.

Senior Detective Karen Vance of the NYPD Major Crimes Division stepped into the room, flanked by four armed federal marshals.
