Chapter 7 - The Presentation Ambush

================================================================================
Friday morning arrived with an icy, brilliant Manhattan sunrise.
At 8:45 AM, the grand boardroom on the 50th floor was packed with twenty senior board members, institutional investors, and the visiting executive delegation from the Crown Imperial Hotel Group, led by CEO Lord Henry Montgomery.
I sat at the presentation table, dressed in a sharp ivory tailored suit, setting up my holographic display monitors with quiet confidence.
Beside me sat Adrian, looking immaculate in a charcoal three-piece suit, his demeanor calm, unreadable, and composed.
Suddenly, the heavy double doors were pushed open.
Julianna Sterling marched into the room, flanked by Victor Vance and two private corporate security officers. Her face was a mask of righteous, theatrical distress.
“Stop this presentation immediately!” Julianna announced, her voice ringing across the silent room.
Lord Montgomery frowned, adjusting his glasses. “Miss Sterling, what is the meaning of this interruption? We are about to begin the pitch.”
Julianna pointed an accusatory, manicured finger straight at me.
“We have an emergency breach of national corporate security,” Julianna declared loudly, ensuring every investor heard every word. “At midnight last night, our internal IT security detected a massive data leak. The entire Crown Imperial branding campaign was transmitted to Sterling-Cross Media from the personal computer of Elena Hayes!”
A collective, horrified gasp rippled through the boardroom. The board members began whispering frantically among themselves.
Victor Vance stepped forward, tossing a thick folder of printed server logs and bank receipts onto the center table.
“Here is the indisputable forensic proof,” Victor announced smugly. “A five-hundred-thousand-dollar wire transfer was routed to an offshore account linked to Ms. Hayes’s maiden name. Security searched her desk twenty minutes ago and recovered the physical promissory notes.”
Julianna turned to Adrian, her voice softening into false sympathy. “Adrian, darling... I know you trusted this woman. But she used your personal feelings to rob this company blind. She is a common thief who belongs in prison!”
I looked at the forged documents, my heart pounding, but I did not panic. I looked at Adrian.
Adrian slowly stood up from his chair.
He did not look at the papers. He did not look at me with doubt. He looked directly at Julianna and Victor with the predatory calm of a lion watching two hyenas walk straight into an iron cage.

“Are you quite finished, Julianna?” Adrian asked softly.
