Chapter 4 - The Senator’s Broken Shield

“FEDERAL AGENTS! NOBODY MOVE!”
Blinding white tactical floodlights filled the penthouse, accompanied by the laser sights of twelve tactical operators from the Joint Federal Task Force.
Guests screamed, dropping their glasses and diving face-down onto the designer carpet.
Senior Special Agent Karen Vance stepped through the smoke, holding an unsealed federal warrant.
“Ethan Cole, Brandon Hale, Tyler Whitmore—hands behind your heads!” Agent Vance commanded.
Brandon scrambled backward, shrieking: “Do you know who my mother is?! She is a United States Senator! You will lose your badge by morning!”
Agent Vance smiled with cold disgust. “Your mother, Senator Evelyn Hale, was arrested twenty minutes ago at her Beacon Hill residence for Federal Campaign Embezzlement, Bribery of Judicial Officials, and Obstruction of Justice.”
Brandon went pale as wet paper, his jaw dropping in absolute terror.
Behind the tactical team, the large wall-mounted smart TV in the penthouse turned on automatically, connecting to an emergency breaking news broadcast from CNN and Boston 25 News:
‘BREAKING: Senator Evelyn Hale indicted after encrypted recordings expose multi-million-dollar money laundering operations and systematic suppression of felony assaults committed by her son, Brandon Hale.’

The broadcast showed Senator Hale in handcuffs being escorted into a federal vehicle outside her home, shielding her face from blinding media flashbulbs.
Brandon fell to his knees on the floor, weeping in humiliating terror as federal marshals twisted his arms behind his back and clicked heavy iron cuffs around his wrists.
