Chapter 3 - The Arrogance of the Three Princes

The high-rise penthouse on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston was filled with thumping electronic music, flowing champagne, and forty privileged college students.
Ethan Cole leaned against the marble kitchen island, holding an ice pack to his bruised knuckles, laughing with Brandon and Tyler.
“Did you see the look on her face when the jaw cracked?” Ethan bragged, taking a swig of tequila. “She thought she could threaten to report our frat’s exam keys to the academic dean. Now she can’t even open her mouth to eat solid food for two months.”
Brandon Hale chuckled, adjusting his designer fleece. “My mom called the precinct captain thirty minutes after it happened. The police report already lists it as an 'unprovoked mugging by an unidentified vagrant in the park.' The case is closed before morning.”
Tyler Whitmore raised his glass with an arrogant grin. “And my grandfather’s tech liaison wiped the server logs from the campus cloud. There’s no video, no witnesses, and no evidence. Her loser father who runs a junkyard shop won't even be able to afford the hospital deductible.”
Across the room, Ethan’s smartphone buzzed on the counter.
It was an automated alert from his private bank account:
ALERT: Commercial line of credit for Cole Infrastructure Group suspended by Federal Banking Commission. Balance: $0.00.
Seconds later, Brandon’s phone rang—his mother, Senator Hale, screaming hysterically into the receiver: “Brandon! What did you do tonight?! The Department of Justice just raided my campaign headquarters!”
Before Tyler could laugh, the power in the penthouse was cut entirely.

The music died. The chandeliers went dark.
The heavy oak penthouse doors were blown off their hinges with a concussive roar of tactical breaching charges.
