Chapter 3 - THE MAN WHO DIDN'T BELIEVE IN COINCIDENCE

Alessandro was waiting in the estate's library.
He stood when Amelia entered.
“Miss Bennett.”
She stopped several feet away.
“Did you put this in my flowers?”
She held out the note.
Alessandro read it.
His expression changed.
“No.”
Amelia studied him.
“Are you sure?”
He looked up.
“If I wanted to warn you about your fiancé, I would tell you directly.”
She hesitated.
“Then who wrote it?”
Alessandro examined the paper.
“I don't know.”
Amelia swallowed.
“My sister is missing.”
He looked at her.
“Rose Bennett?”
Her heart stopped.
“You know her?”
Alessandro's expression became guarded.
“I know the name.”
Amelia stepped closer.
“How?”
He hesitated.
Then said:
“Because she worked for a company connected to one of my shipping operations.”
Amelia felt cold.
“Julian told me she worked for an event company.”
“She did.”
Alessandro looked toward the window.
“But the company also handled private events for people who used my port facilities.”
Amelia stared.
“Was Rose involved in something illegal?”
“I don't know.”
She felt tears rise.
“Please.”
Alessandro looked at her.
For a moment, his expression softened.
“I'll tell you what I can verify.”
Amelia nodded.
He continued.
“Eleven months ago, a shipment disappeared from a private warehouse.”
She stared.
“The same week your sister vanished.”
Amelia covered her mouth.
May you like
Alessandro's voice lowered.
“And the person responsible for warehouse security was Julian Price.”
