Clara eventually left her position as Matteo's full-time caretaker.

Vincent respected her decision.
He didn't ask her to stay.
Didn't offer money to change her mind.
Didn't use Matteo's attachment to pressure her.
Instead, he thanked her.
One evening, they met for dinner.

“Clara.”
She smiled.
“Yes?”
“I've wanted to ask you something for a long time.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Should I be worried?”
He laughed.
“Probably.”
She smiled.
“Go on.”
He took a breath.
“Would you consider going on a date with me?”
Clara stared.
Then laughed softly.
“Vincent Rossi, are you nervous?”
“Terrified.”
She smiled.
“Good.”
He looked confused.
“Good?”
“It means you care about the answer.”
Vincent smiled.
Clara reached across the table.
“Yes.”
His expression softened.
“Yes?”
She laughed.
“Yes, I'd like that.”
For the first time in years, Clara allowed herself to imagine loving someone again.
