Chapter 10 - THE COUSIN WHO WANTED THE THRONE

Adrian Rossi had always believed the empire should have belonged to him.
Vincent was younger.
More respected.
More feared.
And, in Adrian's mind, less deserving.
The car bomb had been intended to kill Vincent.
Isabella and Matteo had been collateral damage.
The revelation devastated him.
Dominic presented financial records.
Communications.
Evidence linking Adrian to the men who arranged the attack.
Vincent stared at the documents.
His hands trembled.
“My wife.”
Dominic lowered his eyes.
“And my son.”
Silence.
Vincent stood.
For a moment, the old rage returned.
The instinct to solve everything with violence.
Then he looked toward the family photographs on his desk.
Isabella smiling.
Matteo running through the garden.
Clara sitting beside his wheelchair at the beach.
Vincent closed his eyes.
Then said:
“Take the evidence to the authorities.”
Dominic stared.
“Boss?”
Vincent looked at him.
“I've buried enough people.”
May you like
His voice hardened.
“I'm not burying my son's future too.”
