Chapter 12 - THE TRUTH THAT FINALLY CAME OUT

The investigation into the Harrington family's finances continued.
Edward faced allegations involving fraud, unauthorized access to medical information, and other misconduct.
Several companies connected to the port agreement came under scrutiny.
Dante cooperated with investigators through his attorneys.
The process exposed uncomfortable truths about his own family's business history.
He accepted that protecting Isabella and Grace required more than distancing himself from the Harringtons.
It required changing the systems that had allowed powerful people to act without accountability.
Celeste eventually testified about her father's pressure and the old marriage arrangement.
Her testimony helped clarify the financial motive behind the attempts to interfere with Dante's marriage.
But it did not erase her cruelty toward Isabella.
Months later, Isabella received a letter from Celeste.
It contained no excuses.
Only an apology.
Isabella read it.
Then placed it in a drawer.
She did not respond.
Forgiveness was not something she owed.
Meanwhile, Grace grew stronger.
Her doctors continued monitoring her health.
The family celebrated every milestone.
The first time she held Dante's finger.
The first time Isabella held her against her chest.
The day she was well enough to go home.
When Grace finally left the hospital, Dante carried the car seat.
Isabella walked beside him.
They stopped outside.
The morning was bright.
The city moved around them.
Dante looked at Isabella.
"Where would you like to go?"
She studied him.
For a moment, he feared the answer.
Then she said:
"Home."
He swallowed.
"The mansion?"
She shook her head.
"Not yet."
Dante nodded.
"Okay."
She looked at Grace.
"I want somewhere quiet."
He smiled faintly.
"Then we'll find somewhere quiet."
They moved into a smaller house near the lake.
No ballroom.
No grand staircase.
No guests who measured a woman's worth by her dress size or family name.
Just a warm kitchen.
A nursery.
May you like
A garden.
And enough space to begin again.
