Tommy had known more than he'd admitted.
He confessed that Carlo had approached him weeks before the wedding.

Norah stared at him.
“You knew there was danger.”

“Yes.”

“And you took me to the docks anyway.”

“I thought it would be safe.”
Norah shook her head.
“You thought wrong.”
For a long moment, neither spoke.
Then Tommy whispered:
“I'm sorry.”
Norah looked away.
She loved her brother.
But she couldn't pretend his choices hadn't hurt her.
