While Evelyn was escorted to the waiting police cruiser in chains, the civil purge of the Vance Estate began with clinical precision.
Under Arthur’s direct authorization, county bailiffs and private locksmiths arrived at the main gates.
The locks on the master suite, the dressing rooms, and the private garages were completely replaced.
Moving crews inventoried every piece of luxury clothing, designer handbag, and imported fur coat purchased by Evelyn using embezzled corporate funds over the last five years, packing them into secure crates to be liquidated at public auction for the employee pension fund.
Daniel stood in the foyer, holding a single cardboard box containing his personal belongings.
Arthur walked down the grand marble staircase, looking at his son with deep, sorrowful disappointment.
“Dad... please,” Daniel croaked, his eyes red from crying. “Where am I supposed to go? My corporate card is canceled.”
“You are thirty years old, Daniel,” Arthur replied, his voice firm and unyielding. “You have spent your life hiding behind your mother’s skirt and letting others pay your debts. Effective today, you are stripped of your vice-presidency and removed from the company registry.”
Arthur pointed toward the front gates.
