Chapter 4 - The Siphon on the Family Trust

While Julian presented the preliminary documents, I opened my laptop and connected it to the dining room’s smart presentation screen.

For two years, the Vance family had treated me like a simple, docile daughter-in-law who did household chores and kept quiet. They had forgotten that before I married Daniel, I had graduated Summa Cum Laude in Forensic Accounting from Columbia University and spent four years auditing multi-national mergers.

“Look at the structural routing, Arthur,” I said, clicking through the encrypted offshore trails.

Displayed across the 75-inch monitor was the master embezzlement schematic:

The Shell Corporations: Three offshore holding entities registered in Belize and the Cook Islands under the names Aegis Harbor LLC and Solstice Maritime Trust.

The Liquidation Scheme: Evelyn had forged Arthur’s executive power-of-attorney to authorize the collateralization of the Vance ancestral estate, securing a $4.5 million commercial bridging loan.

The Flight Confirmation: Two one-way first-class tickets to Zurich, Switzerland, booked for this coming Friday under the names of Evelyn Vance and Gregory Cole.

Daniel looked up from the table, his breath catching in his throat. “The ancestral house? Mom... Dad built that house for our children!”

“Gregory promised me an empire in Europe!” Evelyn shrieked, slamming her fists onto the table in unrepentant rage. “Arthur has spent thirty years treating me like a trophy to be displayed at charity galas! I gave you my youth! I deserved half of everything!”

“You didn't want half, Evelyn,” Arthur replied with cold, unshakeable dignity. “You wanted everything. And you were willing to destroy an innocent girl to get it.”
