Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Freeze

================================================================================

On Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM, Brandon Vance walked into the executive conference room of Midwest Freight Logistics in downtown Milwaukee.

He wore his tailored suit, carrying a leather portfolio, radiating the smug, untouchable confidence of a manager who believed he had outmaneuvered his wife. He had scheduled a morning meeting with his division director to announce his upcoming "commercial expansion."

He pushed open the double glass doors, a confident smile on his face.

“Morning, team,” Brandon began, pulling out a leather chair.

He stopped dead in his tracks.

Sitting at the head of the conference table was not his regional director.

Sitting at the table was me, dressed in an immaculate ivory tailored blazer and slacks, looking calm, pristine, and untouchable.

Beside me sat Claire Montgomery, Chief Financial Officer Arthur Davis, and Senior Detective Marcus Miller.

Brandon’s face turned an ashen shade of grey. “Elena...? What the hell are you doing at my company’s corporate office?”

CFO Arthur Davis stood up, his expression cold as granite.

“Brandon Vance,” Davis announced, his voice echoing across the silent room. “At 8:00 AM today, this company received a federal grand jury subpoena and an emergency judicial garnishment order regarding your employment accounts.”

Brandon’s throat made a dry, audible click. “Arthur, this is a private marital dispute! My wife is unstable—”

“Your wife is the senior architectural consultant who holds the primary design patents for our new distribution terminals, Brandon,” Davis interrupted ruthlessly. “And you have utilized company IP addresses and commercial wire accounts to launder $170,000 in marital funds through dummy corporations.”

Davis slid a corporate termination document across the table.

“Effective immediately, your employment with Midwest Freight Logistics is terminated for gross moral turpitude and commercial fraud. Your stock options are frozen under court order, and your corporate credit lines are terminated.”

Brandon staggered backward, his hands trembling as he reached for the doorframe.

“You can’t do this to me!” Brandon screamed, his voice cracking into shrill panic. “I have seven years with this firm!”

“You have seven seconds to step out of this room before security removes you, Mr. Vance,” Detective Miller stated, stepping forward with his hand resting on his badge.
