Chapter 14 - THE LOVE I NEVER HAD TO BEG FOR

A year later, I met Ethan Brooks.

He was an architect.

Kind.

Funny.

Patient.

We met at a community fundraiser.

He accidentally spilled coffee on my notebook.

I laughed.

He apologized three times.

Then offered to replace it.

I smiled.

“Only if you promise not to spill coffee on the new one.”

He laughed.

“Deal.”

We began seeing each other.

Slowly.

No pressure.

No grand promises.

Just honesty.

He asked about my day.

Remembered my favorite flowers.

Listened when I spoke.

And when I told him about my marriage, he didn't try to fix my past.

He simply said:

May you like

“You deserved better.”

For the first time, I believed it.
