Chapter 8 - THE TRUTH BEHIND THE EXPLOSION
The warehouse explosion had occurred eighteen months earlier.
Arthur was visiting the facility with two senior employees.
Daniel Rossi.
And Michael Varela.
Both died.
Arthur survived.
But the blast permanently damaged his optic nerves.
The official investigation attributed the explosion to an industrial accident.
Arthur had accepted that conclusion.
Until now.
The ledger suggested Daniel had discovered financial misconduct.
He had planned to confront Arthur.
The meeting was scheduled for the day of the explosion.
Norah stared at the dates.
“Daniel was going to tell you.”
Arthur nodded slowly.
“And someone stopped him.”
Vincent looked pale.
“Adrian?”
Arthur's expression hardened.
“Possibly.”
Norah closed the notebook.
“We need to give this to investigators.”
Arthur hesitated.
She looked at him.
“Arthur.”
He turned toward her voice.
“You don't get to protect your reputation at the cost of other people's lives.”
