Chapter 14 - THE FIRST MORNING WITHOUT FEAR

One year later, Norah opened a small consulting firm specializing in accessible business systems and document verification.

She helped companies improve records management, implement accessible technology, and prevent fraud.

Her business grew.

Slowly.

Honestly.

On her own terms.

Arthur became one of her clients.

Not her owner.

Not her rescuer.

Her client.

And eventually, her friend.

Then something more.

They began dating.

Quietly.

Without publicity.

Without extravagant gifts.

Arthur learned to use accessible technology more confidently.

He traveled independently with mobility training.

He stopped treating blindness as the end of his life.

And one morning, he asked Norah to open the curtains.

She stood beside the window.

“Are you sure?”

Arthur smiled.

“Yes.”

She pulled them open.

Sunlight filled the room.

Arthur couldn't see it.

But he felt the warmth on his face.

He smiled.

“Beautiful.”

Norah's eyes filled.

“You can't see it.”

Arthur reached for her hand.

“No.”

May you like

He smiled.

“But I can feel it.”
