Chapter 7 - THE DEAD MAN'S LEDGER

The elevator incident triggered an independent security investigation.

Technicians discovered evidence of deliberate interference.

Someone had tampered with the control system.

Arthur was furious.

Norah was frightened.

But neither was willing to stop.

Two days later, Vincent brought them a sealed envelope.

It had been found in a locked cabinet belonging to Daniel Rossi, the former chief financial officer who died in the warehouse explosion.

Inside was a small notebook.

Handwritten.

Old-fashioned.

Filled with dates, payments, and names.

Arthur listened as Norah read.

The entries described transfers through shell companies.

Payments to private contractors.

And suspicious withdrawals from Cornero Logistics.

Then Norah reached a familiar name.

“Adrian Bell.”

Arthur went still.

She continued.

Another name appeared.

“Victor Bell.”

Arthur's expression hardened.

“Adrian's brother.”

Norah looked up.

“Who is Victor?”

Arthur's voice became cold.

“A man I thought was dead.”
